MediaHarbor – Download & Organize · v2.0.0 · Effective July 22, 2026
MediaHarbor ("the extension") is a browser extension for Google Chrome that detects videos, audio files, images, and documents (PDF, EPUB, Word, and more) on the web pages you visit and lets you preview, queue, and download them, with a download history and file-naming tools. This policy explains what information the extension does — and, more importantly, does not — handle.
None. The extension does not collect, transmit, store remotely, sell or share any personal information or browsing data. Specifically, we do not collect:
The extension has no server. There is nowhere for your data to be sent.
chrome.storage.sync, which Chrome may sync between your own signed-in browsers as part of your Google profile. The developer has no access to it.chrome.storage.local on your device only. You can export, import, or erase them at any time from the extension's settings (Data section).Everything the extension does happens on your device. Uninstalling the extension removes its settings and stored data.
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
Access to the websites you visit(host permissions) | Required to detect downloadable media on the pages you open and to save the files you choose. The extension never modifies or blocks any page or request. |
downloads | Starts, pauses, resumes and organizes the downloads you request, through Chrome's normal download manager, with a sanitized file name. |
storage | Saves your settings, download history and statistics on your device (section 3). |
webRequest | Lets the extension passively notice media files in page network traffic so it can offer media the page does not directly expose. Nothing is modified or blocked. |
tabs | Associates the media it finds with the tab it came from and shows the per-tab count badge on the toolbar icon. |
contextMenus | Adds the right-click "Download with MediaHarbor" action. |
notifications | Optional: shows a quiet notice when a download finishes. Off in one click. |
The extension uses no third-party services, analytics providers, advertising networks or remote APIs. All of its code is bundled inside the extension and runs entirely on your device. The only network requests it makes are to the websites you are visiting, on your behalf, to fetch the media you asked to save.
MediaHarbor does not operate on YouTube or DRM-protected streaming services (such as Netflix, Disney+ or Spotify), in line with Chrome Web Store policies. Please only download media you have the right to save — your own content, content with the author's permission, or content in the public domain — and respect the copyright and terms of service of the websites you use.
Because the extension collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children.
If a future version of the extension ever changes how data is handled, this policy will be updated and the "Effective" date above revised before that version is released. Material changes will be noted in the extension's store listing.
